Inspiration

Lately I have become quite fascinated with feathers, I have had some interesting visitors to my bird feeder this summer. Recently, this tiny little Red Breasted Nuthatch has been popping by. It is only 3 - 4 inches and moves very swiftly so you need to be quick to snag a photo.

This pretty little bird was the inspiration for the doodle below.

Yesterday, I was quite surprised to find this looking back at me just outside my window...... It appears to be a Broad Winged Hawk.......this beauty was roughly 20 inches long (maybe bigger)
I took this photo through the window......he was only about 3 feet away and I swear he was posing for me!

Oh, your nuthatch drawing is wonderful! They are such fun, comical little birds -- I really enjoy their antics. Bird watching is such fun -- they are all so different and have such different personalities! Your hawk was a great catch! :)

Love your drawing. We get both types of birds too. The hawk sits in a pine tree and surveys it's domain. Beautiful birds. We also have a young Peregrine falcon that comes every so often. I have no idea why they have picked our back yard to hang around. We do get a lot of mourning doves which might be the reason:)

You know I love every single drawing you do. Heck Jill, you can draw a rock and I'd fall in love with it!

I love your birds -- both the photos and the drawing. I've been doing some bird watching myself.. we've had a pair of cranes hanging around the park lately. So inspiring....

We just put up a couple of feeders including some hummingbird feeders. They are so much fun to watch. Love your pics and of course, your drawing. Amazing as always .

Extraordinary photos there....I just hope the hawk doesn't take a fancy to the nuthatch! A sparrow hawk killed a pigeon in our garden yesterday!

Just saw your blog on the Thread Head page and decided to visit because of the bird photo I saw. OMG you are so fortunate to have a hawk so close (probably looking for a meal) and get such a great photo! Nuthatches are very difficult to get a photo of and I have been trying! I also have a bird blog. Your blog looks very interesting.
