Wool and Cotton

In a post a couple of months ago, I showed some quilting I was doing using wool batt.

2 looks in one......this is the back view

What I did not share, was that this was part of a project I was doing while preparing an article for the Canadian Quilter.   It is a quarterly publication, this is the 9th article/design that I have created in my role as Artist in Residence for the Canadian Quilters' Association

In the Autumn issue, which is now out, I provide directions for working with cotton and wool to create a cushion that could be made from leftovers to co-ordinate with a quilt

It started with charm squares

I cut lots of circles from wool and stitched a variety of  "pennies" that could be added to the cotton.

Pretty simple, easy and fun way to use charm squares and leftover bits.

this is the front view

I am currently preparing the article for the Winter issue........summer is going by far, FAR too quickly

Simple and innovative. But most importantly. Beautiful. I also love that pumpkin shaped lamp or ornament. I'm a pumpkin fan and I'd love one of those !

I love the quilting on your pillow. Don't suppose I could see a better picture? Pretty please?

Another fabulous idea! What advantages/ disadvantages to wool batt? I've never used it. Does it make a sturdier pillow shape? Is the batt similar to a wool army blanket (of which I have a couple of, sitting around) I had heard they could be used as batt, although it seems sort of thick.

I really like the combo of wool and cotton.
Do you mind if I pin this to my Pinterest board of things I want to do?

Oh my goodness I want to touch every inch of that pillow, how beautiful and what great soft colors you used.
Terrific job, nicely done.

Happy Sewing

Oh Jill, how beautiful. I do believe that you have a wonderful triple threat of talent. You provide something achievable, and something affordable and something artistically amazing. Thanks for the inspiration, and what is inspiration but the very best sort of teaching. The encouragement to 'go thou and do likewise.'
thanks so much.

Jill that pillow is so cool. I love how you took the primitive look of the wool and juxtaposed it with batik fabric. Brilliant! Of course, that stitching with the wool batt is fabulous!
