From Doodle to Felt

The current word for The Creative Prompt Project is....... Flower.

After I created the doodle, I decided to see how it would look simplified.

I cut the basic shapes from wool felt.
I used my needle felting tools to meld it all together for a piece that could then be easily thread painted.

I did the thread painting with a layer of stabilizer on the back prior to adding the layer of Timtex.

Stitching very close to the outer edges of the design makes the flower and leaves stand out.

A little "mini"McTavishing finishes off this quick little postcard.

It turned out very nicely.

Beautiful! You know it's good design when it can be translated from one detailed medium to a simpler type and still be strong!

XXOO!

I love your project! Great work!

How do you do your doodling? I have been following your work for a while now and I am just curious.

Have a nice day!

Wonderful, but I expect your projects to be that way from now on anyway. :)
The flower reminded me of the big bull thistles I used to encounter in Minnesota. The flower part was purple with little white fuzzies and the leaves were a rich green.

Fabulous! You are really doing what I had hoped: using the CPP as a jumping off point for other creativity. Lovely work!

If I could have just a wee bit of your talent please....I love wool and know so many who do as well. What a fun thing for me to try as little RAKs.....time permitting of course! Oh...and I couldn't doodle but I mean cut out a fun wool shape and try the post card. :-)

I love the doodle but the felted version is even better. It is so cool. The leaves are the best!

Jill, you're right! Your doodle looks very similar to the 17th century piece! I really like what you do with your doodling! Just fantastic work for sure!! I agree with Anne's comment on changing mediums!
