Finished

This quilt was made with the intention of  "busting my stash". It is finished, but my stash is only slightly dented. I find it interesting to see how the wonderfully all the fabrics work together as this quilt is made up entirely from a wide variety of fat quarters I had accumulated over the years....the exception being the duvet cover I used as backing and that neutral grey I purchased for the sashing/binding
you can find the earlier posts about this project here.

I made pillow shams to carry out the same look of the quilt. The backs are primarily made up of the last bits of scrap from the duvet.

Like the quilt, I did "big stitch" hand quilting using Aurifil's 12 wt  variegated cotton, these lovely threads were also part of my stash.

I cut a gentle curve at the edge of this 106" x 90" quilt, so there is a lot of  hand stitched bias binding.

Not sure why this one took so long, (might have something to do with hand stitching through layers of batiks and fusing) but for the most part, I suppose it kind of got forgotten and left on the back burner for a while, but it is finally finished .......hmmmm......but....there is still more stash waiting to be used.  :-)

Great use of your stash and scraps! Had to chuckle- why do scrap quilts never really put a dent in the pile??? I admire you for the hand quilting. And agree with you, the batiks and fusible may have made for slower going. But the finish is lovely.

Wonderful finish and I love the coordinating pillow cases. I know what you mean by only a tiny dent in the stash...

OMG... I love it. Nothing beats a great stash buster to me too! It's funny how little our stash actually drops when we do something like this. How can you make a quilt and have just as much stash leftover? Those lil stash elves are terrible some days! LOL!!!!!!

Mmmmmmmm, the edge is so lovely. Great job!! It really adds so much to the quilt!! Yes, it is amazing how colors work together that you might not have ever thought of putting side by side. It is my favourite thing about quilting. I love 'scrap' quilts for that reason. They really sparkle and twinkle and take on a life of their own.

Your quilt and pillow shams look divine on the bed. They look like you purposefully selected fabrics and got busy cutting and sewing. I admire your Curved edge with the hand stitched binding and the entire hand-quilted stitching. Your fingers must be strong like steel now. Beautiful ensemble and workmanship dear. <3
