I recently showed you a piece of twill fabric that I over-dyed, that cotton twill was perfect for this project.
I started by marking cutting lines on some clear vinyl......and made binding pieces for the cut edges where I would then be adding zippers
The "pages" were made by fmq stitching the twill to batting, laying the zipper pocketed vinyl on top, stitching all around the edges and then putting two of the pages back to back.
I stitched a fabric "spine" to the pages to allow extra room, this way the pages can expand as supplies begin to fill the pockets.
Using a very stiff interfacing (a Timtex type product) I created the cover, added vinyl pockets on the inside of the cover (to hold more treasure) and used webbing for handles. The pages were then stitched into the cover......and now I have everything I need in one place, easy to transport and with lots of room for more stuff.

Not just a great design, but love the fabric you used too! I am sure this is going to get a LOT of use!
Great use of your fabric.
Love it and a lot of thought has gone into the making of this bag.
How cute this is -- you did a terrific job with it!
You know -- I rarely (as in 2 spam comments in the last 2 years) have any trouble. Do you allow anonymous commenting? It's crazy how some have such trouble and some have virtually none! :)
I got one of these as a gift from a lady in my internet guild the crazy quilters. It was such a fab gift and sooo useful - she designed her differently but its basically the same thing. love it.
Great bag and the fabric is gorgeous.
And the great thing about making your own carrier, is that you can make it any size you want. Really good job on that. And I love your rat. lol
No surprises! You delivered another unique piece. Been missing you...I'm nearly settled in. Moving isn't all that fun especially moving into a rental and knowing we get to do it all again.
Jill this is really practical and beautiful. Necessity is the mother of invention and you have done just so. Creative Hearts are Happy Hearts...
The design and idea are wonderful, but I especially love the fabric! Keep designing and sharing!
Come see me at "Off the Wall Friday!" too.
How beautifully creative - I feel lazy now for just picking up a plastic tote thing. Great design.
I want one!!! :) Great idea. Now I know what to make with that vinyl I bought recently.
