Book review and Giveaway

Next week, April 2nd, the 20th novel in Jennifer Chiaverini's The Elm Creek Quilts series will be released in softcover. The good folks at Plume (member of Penguin Group) sent me a copy to review and an extra to giveaway.

Jennifer Chiaverini's  "The Giving Quilt"  reacquaints us with familiar characters and introduces a few new ones, quilters gather to spend a week at Elm Creek Manor for a very special purpose. This is not your average quilt retreat, during their stay at the historical manor, the participants enjoy the many amenities of the vast property, learn new skills and form new friendships, but it is not all about what they are gaining...it is about giving,  you see, the quilts they create this week are to be donated to Project Linus.
While you won't find mystery and intrigue.....no page turning drama, many readers may relate to the story. Much of the book takes place far from Elm Creek Manor, chronicling the lives of 5 women, who each have their own reason for attending the retreat, we are taken to their home towns, where we are witness to their everyday life, struggles and triumphs.

Here is your chance to win a copy of The Giving Quilt along with 3 Elm Creek Quilt lapel pins. Entering is simple, just leave a comment in this post, answering the question below.

Are you a fan of the Elm Creek Quilt series? If so, which is your favourite or least favourite of the books....if you have not yet read any of them, (what are you waiting for?) would you start back at the beginning or jump in with the current novel?

I will draw a random winner on Tuesday April 2nd, please be sure I have a way to contact you.

I haven't read one of these in the Elm Creek series forever! Forgot all about them...how could I! They are a good read and I'd encourage folks who might not win to pick up a copy at their library or book store! Guess I should make a trip there as well! :)

I have never read an Elm Creek novel, but would like to. Never ever read a book about quilting, either. Have to look it up on amazon, I guess.

I have read all of the Elm Creek novels and love them. My least favorite is the Wedding Quilt because she wrote in the future looking back and I thought it didn't have the same effect as her other novels.

I love the Elm Creek Quilts books. My least favourite one (and I can't remember the title) was when one of women was losing her quilt shop and her marriage at the same time. Thanks for the giveaway!

It's hard to pick a favorite. I think Round Robin was interesting compared to her first book. I haven't read her newest one yet. thanks for the give away.

I've heard of the books but have not read one, yet. I'm in the process of starting a group to make charity quilts. As a result, this particular title appeals to me. So, I would start with this one. Thanks for the giveaway and posting the Linus links.

I am a big Elm Creek Quilts fan!!! I have all the books, except the first 3 which were in 1 book that I loaned and never got back. Wah!!!

I am also an avid pin collector! When Jennifer C. came to our local library, I was almost as excited to get the pin as I was to meet her! (And that says a lot!)

Thanks for the fabulous give away! Those of you who haven't read them, they're a must read by quilters! (And anyone else who enjoys a good book!)

Oh excellent give-a-way! I guess the story that is the most memorable for me was where they were searching for the quilts from her childhood. When she found one in a gift shop and the owner had made a jacket out of it. Gads who could do that to a beautiful old quilt.

Right now I am reading "The Aloha Quilt". I have enjoyed SOOO many of Jennifer's books it is difficult to choose a favorite. I look forward to reading the new one.

I have read some of her books a while back and enjoyed them. Like you say not too mysterious just an enjoyable read with lots of quilting in it. The story I remember best (though I can't recall the title) is where the husband takes up quilting after his wife dies, he decides not to give away her stash and finds his own style - it was very touching. If you accept entries from NZ, I would love to win and give it to my best quilty friend :-)

Jill, I had not heard of this series before. I will ask our guild Librarian if we can order a set. I am an avid reader and might need to start at the beginning and "catch up" to the new book! Thanks for the book review and chance to win her new book.

I've read them. My favorite is the first, because it introduced me to the world of quilt retreats at elm creek!

I've read a couple and they are all great. Can't remember the title, but it was a Christmas quilt.
