In late November, I began a new project, a quilt that holds very special meaning for the recipient. It was finished and delivered last weekend.
Made mostly with materials gleaned from a loved ones P.J.s and T shirts.....lots of personal details have been stitched throughout.....at 72" square, it is just the right size for her to wrap herself in the memories they shared.

Unusual
Normally when I see Starlings, it is generally in great numbers. It is unusual to see one all by itself. There has been 1 lonely Starling visiting my feeders for the past few days. Have you ever taken a close look at these common birds, they have some striking patterns on them....inspired to grab my pencil, I have to admit I gave him a few more than nature may have intended.

Beyond Excited
I am beyond excited to finally be able to share this news. Back in the fall, I was contacted by Trish Burr, an incredibly talented author, teacher, and needle artist from Cape Town, South Africa. Trish was seeking permission to use one of my doodles as the starting point for a new project she wanted to get underway. We were able to come to an agreement very quickly and she got right to work. What Trish does with needle and thread is pure magic!. Today she has posted the result on her blog. Pop on over to her site and take a look around....OMG! all of her work is amazing.
On the left, in the photo below, you can see my original doodle, on the right is the transformation Trish created in thread. She made lots of changes, but kept the outline and a few of the elements in her redesign, the result is stunning and the texture she achieves is outstanding. It is an updated, modern take on Whitework.
I am completely thrilled to have been a part of this!
I am inspired, I have begun gathering supplies and can't wait to give her techniques a try.
Update/follow up....Feb 12, 2015...more exciting news is revealed here on Trish Burr's blog.
