Practice week

Mostly just practice this past week. A couple of postcards.....appliqued of course and some free motion quilting on a comfort quilt from our guild's outreach program.
Another member had pieced it, and yet others batted and basted, I just brought it home to quilt and bind. What a great way to practice your free motion skills..........no judges to worry about.
No marking involved here, my approach was to simply fill one square at a time

That was what I used to do---just slap the quilt package into the machine and draw.
I would have a vague sense of what I wanted and it was always fun. No stress. (no judges! LOL!!)
Love the postcards--nice work!

XXOO!!

I SOOOOOOOOOOO know what you mean on the quilting! I quilted a charity quilt today that will be given to our guild to send on to those in need. It was so very freeing to just go along nice and smooth.
AND there wasn't one loopy, snaggle, or muck up on the whole thing!

I just love these postcards, Jill -- you add the neatest embellishments. It inspires me to spend a little more time on my cards -- those little extras make them so artful.

Love the postcards ... very cute.

I gained a lot of experience with free motion quilting by doing small baby quilts for donation. It felt great to donate them and I gained a new skill too.

That is what I enjoy about charity quilts...a great opportunity to practise quilting designs.
