Whenever I have a chance, I love to create designs. I have a number of them that I would like to turn into whole cloth pieces.
Here is a peek into the process of one I am currently working on.

Mirrors placed on 1/8th of the design shows how it might look |
|
The design enlarged and transferred onto fabric |
|
Then, I began filling in areas using fabric paint |

Getting close |

Once the painting is done, it all needs to be heat set |

I really need to carve out some time to dedicate to the quilting, I have not yet decided what I will stitch in the negative space.....but I do plan to have fun!

intriguing!
yes I can't wait to see it done now. that design will really pop up if you quilt in the negative space x
Oh my goodness Jill!! This piece has a familiar something about it, something that echoes your Local Color quilt; a repeated shape. How very, very cool....it is sort of like recognizing someones handwriting.
very striking! I'm curious how you go about enlarging your pattern. Do you just take it to a copy shop to print? I would love to know what type of fabric paints you are using.
I always admire your work, especially your doodles. This kind of reminds me of one.
Beautiful! Have you ever consider designing a fabric line? This looks simply amazing, wouldn't it be a great beginning to a medallion quilt?
Happy Sewing
The time and detail you put into your work is intense and amazing. This will be stunning no matter how you work it. Creative Stitching Bliss...
Gorgeous, Jill. What kind of paint are you using here? And your favorite fabric for the whole cloth quilts? Your designs always look so crisp and neat.
Time to start thinking about selling these patterns, methinks . . .

It's going to be fabulous Jill, well it's already fabulous!
This is so great!!!! I love painting on fabric but never thought about doing a whole cloth before I quilted...hmmmmmmm Thanks so much for sharing ALL your knowledge with us!!!
This is wonderful and I can't wait to see the quilting you will do. As always very inspiring.
Holy cow! Fabulous!
This is going to be very special! looking forward to seeing a gorgeous finish!
The name of your blog really caught my eye, and now that I've taken the time to start reading your words, I find something that's been in the back of my mind come to the front. The combination of artwork and fabric has been floating around me, sometimes to the point of distraction. Your posts are now moving me in a direction that interests me and will keep me reading here for as long as I can. Thank you for sharing your work. I look forward to finally doing something besides quilt and draw and paint.
