The one thing I would guess we all dislike having to do, is to sew in reverse (rip out stitching) but I decided I had to go backward in order to move on. A few posts ago I showed the center portion of a bed quilt I am currently working on. Well, I really, REALLY, did not like the look of those blue strips separating the blocks, I just knew they HAD to be removed. I suppose that is a downside of not following a pattern and "making it up" as you go along.
Not sure why I was bothered by those strips..........just seemed a bit cluttered, I am much happier with this cleaner look. Here is the pieced top, which measures 102 x 108 inches. Now I just have to find a space large enough to lay it out for the backing, batting and basting process.
The job of stitching on those long borders was made super easy by using the 1/4 inch walking foot system available for my Janome 6600P

I love the quilt now Jill - what a difference the unpicking did - The effect is wonderful. I have been back reading your blog, as I have been an infrequent visitor of late...those mirror images are really great!

Did now know there was a 1/4" walking foot for the Janome. Might have to give that some thought.

Having learned to sew decades ago we were taught that we must do it right and therefore I once had to rip out a zipper 11 times before I completed it correctly! To this day I still "sew in reverse" if there is something that is not right or making me unhappy. Your quilt is gorgeous. Happy stitching...
The quilt looks really good - I think you made the right decision. As for the basting job - take it to a longarm quilter for basting. It'll be ready for you in no time at all.
Doesn't it feel good to undo something and to be in love with the final result? I know that feeling -- and I think your frog-sewing ("rip-it, rip-it") was worth it.

I have the janome 6600, my question is; is that an exact quarter inch or do you still need to move the needle or line it up in the center. I've gone through a couple of feet searching for the perfect quarter inch. I don't mind making the purchase if it is..Help.
